8 weeks and counting

It all began with Quad Services CEO informing me that I have to take 4 weeks off over this December break. I thought I would go crazy not having another break till December 2011. So there is no way I am going to stay home with no plans of escape...hmm where shall we go - I know let's do a White Christmas in Canada with Danny & Bev!!

We met Danny & Bev a year ago when they were out here for the Masters Games. Danny is a Soft Ball (Fast Ball in Canada speak) umpire. We literally met them by coincidence and became good friends instantly. For more details come over for a drink and I'll tell you the whole story :-)...it's a good one!

So here we are and who would have thought we would be going to Canada this Christmas. I certainly thought it would be another year till we saw them.

This week we bought our tickets. We are officially eating toast for the next 2 months :-)..peak season urghh.

We fly over Taiwan and have a 23 hour stop over in Taipei - we get to explore a new city - how cool!!
Next stop Vancouver and overnight there tilll we finally arrive in Edmonton Wednesday 23rd December.

When I booked our domestic flights from Vancouver to Edmonton myself using the internet I got the dates wrong and it cost me $100C to change it - what a freakin' blonde I am sometimes!

My passport is not valid so that is my task for next week.

We are looking on the web to see what we want to do in Edmonton as that is the closest largest city to Bev & Danny's hometown of Ponoka, Alberta.

Ponoka is only 3 hrs from Banff National Park & Lake Louise.

Woo hoo I am super excited. They have a motor home and said we can all go in it to Banff staying overnight. It is still a blurr & I can't believe we are actually going.

G's to do list is:
Alberta Museum (Dinosaur Fossils)
Tasting of Saskatoon berries either fresh or jam (he's such a foodie - it's gr8)
Hunting
Fishing (preferably ice fishing from Bev's Grandfathers fishing hut on the ice if possible)

My list is:
Beating Danny at poker hehe
Shopping at that Mall in Edmonton
Seeing a sports comp - hockey, curling anything Canadian.
Art Museum
Checking out local supermarkets to see how they shop in Canada.

Stay tuned as our adventure unfolds..
